Singapore-US Team creates a microchip 200x better

Ok, I'm quite a geek and such news excite me and intrigue my interests... All the geeks in the house, make some noise!... haha...

Yes, indeed Singapore and US team of engineers have successfully researched a chip that performs 7 times faster and consumes 30 times less energy, the world's most efficient microchip. (Source: http://www.todayonline.com)

According to the article... and based on theoretical calculations, the microchip can be so efficient that you can go without charging your handphone for 2 weeks, and also a pacemaker that requires no charging... I would also imagine using a laptop non stop for 24hrs or more without charging... Wow, how much convenience would that be! And if you ask me, that is perhaps the discovery that is leaps and bounds in the consumer electric industry, possibly the best discovery in our time in area of such technologies... It's application is defintely not just limited to these as described above, but also imagine greater mobility and reduction in the required power to sustain and run the device, meaning ultra portable cameras can go even smaller with the smaller battery pack and lasts longer, mobile phones can go slimmer, Macbook Air can almost vanish into air with its possible reduction in battery requirements.

The opportunities for its use are endless and the potential it can go is also limitless, when this is just the initial stages of this discovery, imagine with a more in depth and collaborated research and development into this technology, fine tuning and optimizing the technology to bring it to greater performance in terms of efficiency, "When knowledge ends, imagination begins..."
